Bob 'Progbob' Mason An excellent bridge between their stunning debut album and what is to come next. The music leads the Band rather than the other way round. Looking forward to album number 2.

Improv: Antetonkel

Most Sproingg songs arise from jam sessions. Very often the finished version you hear on a CD is quite different than the original improv from whence it came. During a recent Sproingg rehearsal (all of which are recorded) the band was so happy with one section of a jam that they decided to release it on Bandcamp as a “Pay what you want” download. This means that you can download it and if you feel moved to do so, pay Sproingg whatever you like for their trouble. Or keep it for free - the choice is yours.

Although the band is happy with this track and would love to hear your feedback, please be gentle! This is a true improvisation, meaning that the band had no clue what they would play, how or when it would begin or end, etc. So although imperfections may exist, the band feels that these add to the character, intensity and unpredictability of the track. As Robert Fripp has said (paraphrasing) “A magic is created when improvising that can never again be duplicated”.

What’s more, while the CDs are multitracked and produced, Improv: Antetonkel was recorded with one stereo mic placed in the rehearsal room. Speaking of CDs, the 2nd Sproingg CD is in the mixing stage and will be out in the coming months. Since the tracks for the 2nd Sproingg CD were recorded a few months ago and this new track was recorded just a few weeks ago, it won’t be on CD 2, but there’s a fair chance that whatever it evolves into will be on CD 3!
